I’ve recently read a novel written by the American author Dallas Coryell.
I’ve read it in just a couple of days, ‘cause it’s a story that has its own flow and has the power to take you in it.
The story tells about a young woman, Tegan Lockwood, with her own dreams and desires, who lives in a beautiful place in England and helps her family with their business. Her life is suddenly upset because of the appearance of Mason Keane, a famous popstar.
Basically this tells nothing at all about the novel itsself, because it’s so much more than a simple plot description! The whole book is a love story and I mean it.
It’s not just a typical love story, meaning the romance between two persons, it’s a story about love, which is so underrated nowdays.
Writers often undervalue the power that love can spread in a story and reduce it to a mere relationship, Dallas Coryell does not. He perfectly describes the warmth and strong bond that only a loving family facing problems and life challenges together, can share and he mixes it up with the love for simple things.
Love is in every line of the book and it unfolds in every form: family love, true friendship, courage, sacrifice, old loves and new ones, not to mention the special attention given to music and art.
The atmosphere is magical, romantic and captivating such as the locations which are very nicely described and fulfilled with the wonderful lyrics that the author created for the novel.
Since Dallas Coryell is also a musician, he sang and played every song in the story, you can enjoy them on his youtube channel.
I highly recommend to hear to the songs while reading Melody’s Key, so that you can fully understand Melody’s feelings.
I don’t want to say too much about the story, but believe me, you will smile and laugh, you will hope and cry, you will dream and shiver. I truly appreciated the nerd quotes (expecially the star wars ones) and there’s a scene that really amazed me for how well it is written and it’s the tea making scene. It made me want a tea myself immediately, because there is a perfect description of the fine art of making tea, expecially referring to how to mix it with milk to cool it just enought to drink it ( I drink tea just as much as Tegan does, which is maybe too much...but well 😂)
And trust me when I tell you that you’ll find a special pancakes recipe you should definitely try at home!
A very special red luggage will contain all the emotions of the big finale which will surprise you and last but not least: what about the key?

The only thing I’d change is the book cover. This story
deserves a much better image to represent its content.

Recentemente ho letto un romanzo scritto dall'autore
americano Dallas Coryell.
L’ho letto in appena un paio di giorni, perché si tratta di una storia che ha
un suo flusso naturale e ha il potere di trascinarvici.
La storia racconta di una giovane donna, Tegan Lockwood, con i suoi sogni e desideri, che vive in un bel posto in Inghilterra e aiuta la sua famiglia con la loro attività. La sua vita è ad un tratto scossa dall’arrivo di Mason Keane, una famosa popstar.
Fondamentalmente questo non dice nulla circa il romanzo in sè, perché è molto di più di una semplice trama descritta! Tutto il libro è una storia d'amore e dico sul serio.
Non è solo una tipica storia d'amore, nel senso di storia d'amore tra due persone, si tratta di una storia sull’amore, che è oggigiorno così sottovalutato.
Gli scrittori spesso sottovalutano il potere che l'amore può diffondere in una storia e lo riducono a un semplice rapporto, Dallas Coryell non lo fa. Egli descrive perfettamente il calore e il forte legame che solo una famiglia amorevole che affronta problemi e le sfide della vita insieme, può condividere e lo mescola con l'amore per le cose semplici.
L'amore è in ogni riga del libro e si disvela in ogni sua forma: l'amore della famiglia, la vera amicizia, il coraggio, il sacrificio, vecchi amori e quelli nuovi, per non parlare della particolare attenzione alla musica e all'arte.

Non voglio dire troppo sulla storia, ma credetemi sorriderete
e riderete, spererete e piangerete, sognerete e rabbrividirete. Ho veramente
apprezzato le citazioni nerd (in particolare quelle riguardo guerre stellari) e
c'è una scena che mi ha veramente stupito per come è scritta ed è la scena del
tè. Mi ha fatto venire voglia di me tè immediatamente, perché vi è una
descrizione perfetta dell'arte di prepararlo, soprattutto con riferimento a
come mescolarlo con il latte per raffreddarlo quanto basta per berlo (bevo tè proprio quanto Tegan e probabilmente è troppo...ma beh 😂)
E credetemi quando vi dico che troverete una ricetta speciale di pancakes che dovete assolutamente provare a casa!
Una valigia rossa molto speciale conterrà tutte le emozioni del gran finale che vi sorprenderà e, in ultimo ma non meno importante: e questa chiave di Melody?
Beh, questa è una storia che scoprirete leggendo Melody’s Key!
L'unica cosa che vorrei cambiare è la copertina del libro. Questa storia merita un’immagine di gran lunga migliore che rappresenti il suo contenuto.
